Devon Underpinning Foundations and Surveying With our years of experience we can bring expert engineering solutions to problems with foundations. Not only can we determine if a property requires underpinning, but we can establish if it is a wise move to underpin the foundations or if a more bespoke solution is needed. Foundations are occasionally affected by environmental issues, especially the weather. As the ground gets wet, dries out, freezes the soil around and underneath the foundations can and will shift. Over the years this can cause a number of problems. These problems can go unnoticed until the cracks start to appear. Underpinning is carried out by digging around the foundations of a building and pouring concrete in to broaden and strengthen the base of a building. Obviously, this can be expensive, although it is often the best means of restoring the stability to the building. Other options are available and sometimes underpinning is unsuitable. As structural engineers with the experience and expertise we will know what to look for when surveying and examining problematic foundations. We can also determine the full extent of any problem and best remedy. |
